Wandered in here today on a break from the rest of the family here on holiday. What a special place, the Diego Rivera mural is the most well known attraction but the building itself is amazing, a symphony in concrete, not to mention the stellar location - please visit!

What a beautiful job by a great artist, well worth a visit. The courtyard here screams "Southern Mexico". Love it.

A delightful little stop at the Art Institute - see the 1931 mural by Diego Rivera - as well as student art work on display. Then walk up to the rooftop level where there is a cafe and very nice views of the harbor as well as Coit Tower.

This is a little-known San Francisco treasure with free admission to see one of the most incredible frescos imaginable. Worth a stop by if you're at Fisherman's Wharf or Lombard Street and you need to escape the crowds and experience some culture

The Art Institute is in a mission style building with a modern annex. There is a courtyard with a Moorish fountain, and one of the exhibit halls has Diego Rivera murals.
