Help us make it rightSacred Tattoo is located at 276 Canal Street between Broadway and Lafayette, on the third floor. It was one of the first legal tattoo shops to open in New York City, and has pioneered many world famous artist. The shop offers custom tattooing, henna, piercing and body modification, as well as a large selection of body jewelry.
A consolidation of Bowery Tattoo and Sacred Tattoo, this cavernous parlor offers permanent cosmetics and henna in addition to tattoos and piercings.
Got a Japanese arm piece done by Camila Rocha. She's an amazing artist definitely worth the price. Definitely will be going back in the future
I researched many shops before going with Sacred. The shop itself has an awesome ""feel"" with the attached art gallery and overall layout. The customer service is fantastic. Kevin responded to my emails immediately. Everyone in the shop is friendly and makes you feel welcome. I had my first session with Rods to cover a tattoo I got 30 years ago. (yep, I'm a older guy). The work Rods did is top notch. I can't wait to go back for second session. I highly recommend Sacred.
9/2011This review is for Nick at Sacred Tattoo. Nick has tattooed me three times so far. I followed him to Sacred from his previous shop. He is professional in both demeanor and technique.
In my case he creates my tattoo from photos i have taken in nature. His eye for color and form is great.
Although we live in Hawaii I always plan to see Nick when we come to the city.
Update 10/2012
Nick is now working on a backpiece for me. I gave him the elements I wanted and he is free handing the design. Looks good so far. Not finished yet. I have confidence in Nick which is why we returned...
Went over to Social Club because I work down the block and assumed the best artists must be there because of the tv show. Showed the picture I wanted tattooed and I felt I was sold really hard. The guy at the front desk gave me a quick quote and I felt like I wasn't really being heard or catered to. Figured if Im about to spend almost a G that I should get to ask more questions. Didn't feel there was any room for that.
Someone told me about Jon Mesa over at Sacred Tattoo. I met him and not only is he a cutie pie and super laid back, he listened to my concerns (I'm a dark skinned...
This is the best place for full sleeves and full back work. My friend got one sleeve here and then came back the next month for the other. He was just planning on having one but they made it so comfortable for him, and he was so happy with the look of it that he had the other done as well. I have gone to them for a lower back piece I am having done, I still have to get it finished but that's on me because of my schedule, not anything to do with them. They make the experience as painless as possible and their aesthetics are superior. No trashy miami stamps here. Recommended.
