Their "great" employees cut into my wedding cake!!!

My husband and I used RR for tables and chairs for our wedding. We worked with Dan Sargent, who at first seemed like a pretty good guy. Little did we know, this would be one of the worst wedding experiences ever.

Dan double booked the wooden chairs used for our wedding, and expected our venue to accommodate them by having someone there at 8am to let the company pick up the chairs so that they could be delivered to the next event in time the day after our wedding. However an inconvenience, we worked it out that they could come to pick up the chairs at 9am, but seeing as it was the day after our wedding, they'd have to come back for the tables later in the afternoon so we could break them down. After all, who wants to get up at 7am the day after their wedding to clean up? Dan assured us that the company was accommodating and that was not and issue.

Fast forward to the day after our wedding. Myself, my husband and both sets of our parents showed up at 11:50am to clean-up. When we arrived at the venue, two college aged kids were there, and the delivery truck was filled with chairs. Fine, right? Well upon entering the venue, I see all of the tables had been broken down and were laying in their side. The further I walked into the venue, I found my ivory linens thrown on the floor (most are grease stained because of this and I can't resell them), my centerpieces which consisted of multiple lanterns and flowers had been thrown carelessly onto a table, and some were shattered and broken and the biggest hit of all... the top tier of our cake which we were saving for our one year anniversary and had been safely placed into a cooler the night before, had been cut into. The cut was fresh as the cake was still moist. Also, several bags of chips that were packed around the cake to protect it were missing from the cooler. I guess they were going to be consumed when the cake wore off?

The cooler was underneath the tables which made up our buffet line, and no one knew it was there except for our parents, myself and my husband, and my day of coordinator. We were the last ones left at the venue the night before, and the pick-up crew was the first ones there in the morning. They never would have found my cooler if they hadn't taken it upon themselves to break down our tables when they weren't supposed to.

I promptly called Rochester Rental to tell Dan what happened. His response? "Well, let's not jump to conclusions here. How do you know it didn't happen last night? We only have great employees and they would never do something like that." He told me that he would call his employees and call me right back. An hour passed and surprise, surprise...no callback. I should also mention that as soon as I found out our cake had been cut into, and started announcing it to our parents, the kids quickly jumped in their truck and left, leaving five chairs behind. By quickly jumping into their truck, I'm talking three minutes or less. Sounds like something only "great" employees would do.

Since they weren't professional by calling us back, I had my husband call once more. Dan instructed us that he spoke to his employees (one of which was his son) and they said there was a women who unlocked the doors to let them in so maybe she ate it. Uhm no, she is the woman who runs the venue who hosts 40+ weddings per year, she's not going to cut into anyone's cake. Try again Dan. He then said, "Well the guys told me there were other cars there when they pulled up. Maybe it was one of them?" There was a tea event going on in a DIFFERENT BUILDING on the property. A bunch of women in their 60s. I assure you, it was not them. If the lady who ran the venue unlocked the doors for your delivery guys, how would the older women have gotten in there, found the cooler which was underneath tables with floor length linens on them, cut a piece, ate it and rushed out with no one seeing them? He then made up other excuses, blaming us for the incident. He took no responsibility for the tables saying that "his boss" told the kids to take the tables while they were there. We couldn't confirm who "his boss" was as he was only talking us in circles. He wouldn't take responsibility for the kids throwing the linens on the floor, breaking decorations, nothing. Thank GOD we did not leave our cards and gifts there overnight. Who knows what their "great employees" would have done with them.

If you are planning a wedding, or any event for that matter, for the love of god try to find another company. This place is as dishonest, crooked and as sad as they come. They took something very sentimental from us, that we're never able to get back. They do not want to take responsibility for any of it to this day. It's such a shame that this "place of business" does things like this to their customers who paid several hundreds of their hard earned dollars to rent from them and for a cake they can't even eat!

Very Disappointed

Dirty equipment. We rented from these guys in the past but will no longer. For the money, we found and will continue to use a different and better company. We had to scrub their chairs before our party. We could not believe they would rent something and expect us to clean it...as if we didn't have other things to do. Never again.

I would stay away from this place if you are looking to rent anything with moving parts. This place is close to my house and I love to do my own home maintenance so it only makes sense to rent from here. In total I have only rented three items from here. A power de thatcher, a power washer, and lawn roller. …
