Great 1st Gastropub Experience. I took my boyfriend to Re-Cess for his 23rd birthday in the beginning of July. Usually when we go to Gainesville, we eat at a chain restaurant like Chili's or O'Charley's, we had no clue that Re-Cess even existed. To me, it takes more than sweet potato fries to make a Gastropub. Innovation, interesting food, artful presentation, and a skilled, creative hand in the kitchen are the mark of a place calling itself that name. Re-Cess does not deliver in these areas. The menu selections, while one step beyond, say, Applebees, aren't anything wow. Fried pickles? Fried green beans? Nothing new here. Having said...
