Poole's Diner, Raleigh, NC. 12K likes. A modern diner with re-imagined comfort food, from chef Ashley Christensen

Poole's began in 1945 as a humble pie shop which soon grew to be a veritable legend and popular hangout for many. Today, Poole's is owned by the famed chef Ashley Christiansen who has given this Downtown landmark a bright and shiny new image. While original features like the double horseshoe bar and red banquettes have been retained, the decor incorporates some modern touches along with its...

The philosophy of the kitchen and bar at Poole’s Diner is simple to digest… creative, simple offerings carefully executed. We are proud to be a part of a community that recognizes the importance and value of supporting the small family farm.

Poole's Diner Restaurant Review

Ashley Christensen, former chef of Raleigh’s groundbreaking restaurant Enoteca Vin, is expressing her talented self at her 1940s-era diner now transformed into a hot twenty-first-century bistro. Lipstick-red barstools pop against graffiti-covered gray walls which, at closer look, are blackboards announcing the menu du jour. Take your time ordering while sipping one of the bar’s creative...

Packed with funky retro decor, this nostalgic deli gives the downtown Raleigh crowd a hip place to hang out.

In Short
Paying homage to the 1950s lunch counter that once inhabited the same space, Poole's Diner is an energetic lunch spot that moonlights as a martini bar once the sun goes down. The...

We love Poole’s and it always delivers! Tonight was a take out only night due to the Coronavirus and it was amazing. This unique place is one of a kind and a must try.

It was like hell. There were no menus. We ordered pimento cheese and were given a small ball of cheese and saltine crackers, only to be told later the cheese contained raw egg. The only thing on the entree menu that looked appetizing was the “royale”, which was essentially a undercooked, unseasoned meatball with unmelted cheese on top, served on one slice of toast with a side cold au ju. The...

The food was the best I’ve ever had. The short ribs were extremely tender and melted in my mouth. The Mac and cheese was unique and also delicious. Our server was excellent - friendly and knowledgeable about the menu, made great recommendations.

The food tastes great especially the mac&cheese and the blueberry and strawberry crumble are phenomenal... however 2 seared scallops for $23 as a main dish was a small portion but had flavor...

Love this place and the food didn't disappoint, but the service was horrible. We sat at the bar and ordered from the rudest bar tender ever. He knew nothing about the wines and seemed officially bothered when I asked to taste one before committing. We ordered a bottle and after filling our first glass he never filled them again. We asked for straws for our waters which he forgot and I had to...

Poole's Downtown Diner is a classic midtown diner that serves upscale contemporary American fusion cuisine. Specialties include duck confit, fried chicken, and weekly specials like sunburst tomatoes with slaw and fried shrimp.

In its latest incarnation Poole's has returned to its diner roots under the ownership of Chef Ashley Christensen. Marrying a clean aesthetic with retro-chic charm, Christensen restored and highlighted the "bones" of the original restaurant, including the double horseshoe bar and red leather banquettes, pairing it with modern elements like Lucite chairs, and oversized blackboard menus that...

Poole's Downtown Diner's menu is constantly changing to take advantage of fresh, seasonal ingredients.
