What the community has to say about Piccola Cucina Enoteca - Prince St.

Information about this business (3)

Piccola Cucina is Philip Guardione’s gift to New York. After working in lauded restaurants across Europe, Guardione chose a lovely tree-lined street in Soho to open an intimate restaurant inspired by his homeland of Sicily. Walking into the restaurant is like stepping into a jewel box. The subtle, elegant décor lets the vibrant tastes and colors of the food and wine shimmer and shine.

When art imitates life. We like to eat it. Especially when plated by the energetic, ascot-wearing Sicilian chef Philip Guardione (Four Seasons in Milan, Taillevent in Paris). His new, doll house-size Piccola Cucina Enoteca opens tonight, and he's preparing modern twists on Italian classics. - Daily Candy

Editorial reviews from the web (3)

"Little kitchen" just sounds so much better in Italian. Truth in advertising here, as joint is intimate: just a handful of tables plus a couple of stools at the bar. Mirrored walls, chic accents will keep you from feeling claustrophobic. Open kitchen at the bar turns out tapas inspired by the chef’s native Sicily. Rice balls, charcuterie, homemade pasta. Crudos cover both beef and fish....

"Little kitchen" just sounds so much better in Italian. Truth in advertising here, as joint is intimate: just 22 seats, plus four at the bar. Mirrors aplenty inside elegant space will keep you from feeling claustrophobic. Sicilian-born chef hews to classic antipasti-primi-secondi playbook. Start with grilled octopus with puréed eggplant, move on to ravioli with shrimp and ricotta, finish with...

Trattoria brings surprising elegance to small Soho space.

The rent must be great, since it's hard to imagine how any restaurant as small as Piccola Cucina (Italian for ""little cookery"") could possibly thrive with only 22 seats. In fact, the room is even...

I went with some Italian friends and we had an octopus salad and 2 pastas: everything was really good, as you would find in Italy! We felt at home, the service was fast and the staff is really friendly. Try the cannoli too to finish...

Piccola Cucina never fails to deliver excellent food and great service. Every time we come to NYC we have dinner here. The place is super small (reservations are a must), it’s rather loud, but you literally feel like you’re in Italy. The food tastes like...

We stoped by the Piccola Cucina for drinks and few appetizers around noon on Sunday, and we did not regret it. Cute, little (authentic New York size restaurant in SoHo) with great food and fantastic service. Guys were very accommodating and super fun. We tried...

Sicilian restaurant

"Excellent", moderately priced Southern Italian fare is "cooked with love" and complemented by a list of from-The-Boot wines at this "quiet" SoHo jewel box, where you can expect a "sincere welcome from the host"; the appropriately piccolo digs feature an ornate glass-backed bar and doors that open out onto the street.

Tips about this business (3)

Fun Fact

Chef-owner Philip Guardione was born in Sicily and worked under Sergio Mei at Milan's Four Seasons Hotel.

When to Go

Later is better, after Soho has calmed down a bit and the shoppers have gone home.

The Extras

Dessert is one thing that size doesn't affect, and Piccola Cucina's are very good, especially the tiramisu and panna cotta.
