Our recipes originate from the Ortega family, which was among the first to prepare a repertoire of Baja cuisine, such as beans, rice and steamed lobster, in Baja's lobster village of Puerto Nuevo in the 1950s. These traditional flavors of Puerto Nuevo are celebrated with our world famous one-and-a-quarter pound grilled lobster, served Baja-style with rice, beans, and homemade tortillas.
For "sophisticated Mexican" with a "Baja" bent, diners try this Hillcrest cantina, where "homemade" tortillas, salsa "with some kick" and "tableside" guac are all "divine", but the "killer" pomegranate margaritas "steal the show" – and "get you sloppy"; although it may be a "tad expensive" for the genre, service is usually "on key" and the "tasteful" setting with "knotty pine floors and walls"...

I had my first Puerto Nuevo lobster at the original Ortega's in Mexico. Love that I can get the same yummy food in Hillcrest without going over the border.
The guacamole and queso were good but the chips were stale and the food disappointing.
Delicious! We both had the Nightly Special with lobster and shrimp, served with rice, beans and cup of their delicious homemade soup. We found the food and service to be outstanding. We will return soon.
The food was very tasty, however, the service was not good at all. I ordered the flat iron steak, not only did they serve me a very small piece that seemed to be the left overs of some table, but to serve five meals it took them forty-five minutes. Not only did they not apologize for the inconvenience , they didn't offer an explanation on why it took so long to serve. Didn't even offer a small...
