Lakes Restaurant Review

Lakes creatively incorporates the living room of the Macauley Mansion, once among the most opulent of Grosse Point homes, and previously part of the interior of the much respected Charley’s Crab, one of Henry Ford II’s favorite spots to dine. Sleekly sophisticated updates include ocean blue patterned flooring, richly colored woods, red brick walls, stained and leaded glass, and diffused...

Detroit has a remarkable number of good seafood restaurants, and this is one of them, offering everything from oysters and clams from the raw bar to sashimi-quality ahi, big lobsters and fish from the Great Lakes, all served in a bright, contemporary setting. Check out the oyster and martini bar, which is done up in maritime shades of watery greens and blues. Menus are printed daily to reflect...

i was there on a Saturday night 7:30 the place was almost empty, no one at the bar. gave us a bad feeling. service was good because there wasn't anyone else to wait on. I recommend you either do something to draw in customers or close. This wusre to be a great palace to come , Piano bar was always full. good luck

Good but not great.

Food was good. Ambiance is great. Fish a little fishy tasting, but okay. Crab cakes were okay, seemed to have fish mixed with crab, though--but not sure. Not a lot of people in the restaurant, so gave a feeling of emptiness and concern that it might not be good, but we came during the week so take that in consideration. Price was medium and about right.

We were celebrating my dates birthday, so I opted to go here. The decor is amazing! Our waiter Gary was attentive and accommodating. The chef came out several times - explaining the menu and to ask how our meal was. We had an appetizer if crab cakes, broiled lobster tails and king crab legs for dinner. A great spot for special occasions.

I really appreciated the staff's accommodations

We had two children with us going to this upscale restaurant. The staff did an excellent job of accommodating our party of 9 adults and a toddler and a baby. My toddler had way too much energy and we were able to walk around upstairs and look at the decor. It was nice to not force him to sit in the high chair the whole time.

Great Food Great Service!
