Love the sassy waitress even more than the juicy cheeseburger and chili cheese fries. Biscuits and housemade grape jelly are out of hand.

Piping hot breakfast and lunch since '48. Dragnet set enhanced by ex-LAPD homicide dicks/current owners, occasionally washing dishes when short on staff, which adds to the slow service. All the diner standards are here, and nothing fails to comply with our palates. Sit around horseshoe-shaped counter to watch miniature train circle the room on wall tracks. Best cracklin' ham in L.A., but please...

This an old-school diner/cafe. Great service and good food. This a great place, convenient, and close to my apt. Plenty of parking on the lot and the street.

I ordered the tuna melt and it was good. I'd give it a 3.5/5.

Cons: It looked like it had been run over by a truck when I opened the container

A little greasy for my taste

Overall: tasted good and I would order again

Coleslaw: The small container the coleslaw came in was half empty. My co-worker joked saying the person delivering my food was probably hungry so decided to eat half of my...

The food here is fantastic. I loved every bite. I am only giving it four stars because it was delivered very late and I had to call the restaurant to find out where it was. The person who answered the phone was very courteous and the delivery guy was nice, but the estimated delivery time was almost an hour and a half, and delivery still took over almost two hours.

Nick's Cafe is located on the very northwest end of Spring Street in downtown Los Angeles across the street from the abandoned train yards. The restaurant offers delicious hot breakfast dishes and lunch. Nick's is known for its "ham 'n' eggs" by a lot of the LAPD officers that frequent the diner. It has great atmosphere, service and food at affordable rates.

Nick’s Café recently celebrated its 65th anniversary on May 1, 2013 by charging 1948 prices for one day. We’ve been in the same spot on Spring Street since we opened, right across the street from the Los Angeles State Historic Park.
