Information about this business (4)

New Caribbean Cuisine: Jerk, Rum, Reggae & more. NY's premiere destination for Caribbean, dining, and nightlife.

An island retreat tucked between the busy sidewalks and noisy streets of Manhattan, Negril Village goes all out with its Caribbean theme. This urban paradise serves up Caribbean cuisine with such specialties as jerk chicken, while providing a selection of rums so extensive, it would make a pirate weep with joy. The food menu is diverse and has influences from pretty much all of the Caribbean....

Located in the heart of Greenwich Village, Negril Village promises to entertain your soul as well as your palette in a hip & classy environment. The latest installment in the Negril chain specializes in Nu Caribbean cuisine or what is dubbed "New York Savvy Caribbean cuisine ". The menu embraces the cooking styles and techniques of destinations such as Trinidad (i.e. Chicken Roti), Puerto Rico...

Editorial reviews from the web (4)

"Hot food, hot crowd" sums up this "modern" Village Jamaican where the "lively" scene is fueled by "phenomenal" cocktails and "flavorful", "dressed-up" Caribbean fare; sure, other competitors are "less expensive", but you're paying for the "upscale" milieu here.

The second floor dining room sets the island tone with bamboo floors and seashell-lined walls, fit for serving NY savvy Caribbean cuisine. Brunch, lunch and dinner menus include island favorites from jerk chicken to curry seafood. Late night, the first floor Rhum Lounge invites club hoppers of all types to enjoy the high-end island experience with crushed velvet chairs, small wooden cocktail...

The surviving member of the Negril family (the Chelsea location shuttered in May 2009), Negril Village is a stylish nod to its East Village locale mixed with a phenomenal menu of authentic Caribbean cuisine.

Editorial Review

The Village location of the upscale Caribbean spot features Sunday brunch and specialty cocktials.

Good authentic Jamaican cuisine in a lively club atmosphere

As many here have stated, Negril Village is more of a club atmosphere than a restaurant, although the food is very delicious. Authentic good Jamaican cuisine with a mostly Jamaican staff. The place is always packed.
We have only experienced Sunday brunch and can recommend...

The atmosphere was better than expected, definitely not the place for a quiet evening. The food was not hot enough and depending on the night you may be waiting for a while to get service. The portions definitely does not match the price they charging...

The mussel appetizer was very spicy but too many of the mussels were empty. I had jerk chicken with some limp vegetables. The jerk was hot so keep water nearby. We had sweet drinks with little alcohol. The waiter couldn't have been nicer but the...

This feisty Jamaican restaurant and lounge rocks with the sounds of the Caribbean and while the food is authentic, it's also a tad more sophisticated than your typical island cuisine. Standards like jerk-rubbed chicken are done right, and other tempting options include coconut salmon, mojito baby lamb chops and curried jumbo shrimp. After dinner, head downstairs to Rhum Lounge and sip a Dark &...
