I've attended 2 field trips, 2 years in a row here and had fun with my kids. They thoroughly enjoyed learning about the Mission and it's history

A National Historic Landmark and California Historic Landmark, California's first mission was founded in 1769 by Blessed Junipero Serra. An active Catholic Parish in the Diocese of San Diego, Mission San Diego de Alcala was the first of the 21 missions, known as the Mother of the Missions. It was designated as a Minor Basilica in 1976 by Pope Paul VI. This is the fifth church on this site....
