Art meets commerce in this uber-trendy NYC enclave, chock full of artist lofts and galleries galore, along with some seriously chi-chi boutiques, not to mention the New York City Fire Museum. Fun fact about Spring Street: It was named for a fresh-water spring that ran through Lispenard's Meadow, where West Broadway currently sits. And the water still runs underground!

Once known as the Printing District, this section of SoHo is still a hub for multimedia, including advertising, design, communications and the arts. And talk about a rich history – the SoHo Playhouse stands on what was once George Washington’s Revolutionary War headquarters. Oh, and this area also features a big tunnel to Jersey. (Not that you’d ever want to go there).
