Online menus, items, descriptions and prices for Mandarin House - Restaurant - San Diego, CA 92103

Mandarin House is a popular dining venue and its atmosphere puts you right smack in the middle of China. The service is excellent and the food is authentic. You could easily feast on the wonderful Moo Shu Pork and nothing else. The pancakes are light and the pork is deliciously seasoned and well cooked. The menu also offers other traditional favorites that are equally satisfying. The chef's...

"Old-school" Chinese washed down with "tropical cocktails in tiki mugs" wavers between "addictive" and "ho-hum" at these '70s-era "standbys" in Bankers Hill and La Jolla, where the lunch prices especially are a "great deal"; service is "expedient", so even if the "dark" "outdated" spaces "harken back to the restaurants your grandparents went to", for most "that's not a bad thing."

Mandarin House Restaurant Review

Mandarin House has been a San Diego fixture for decades, thirty-plus years. It’s a reliable spot for food that's as predictable as the restaurant's name, but still satisfies, especially if you order typical fare like cashew chicken or sweet-and-sour pork. The noodle dishes are good, too, and the Peking duck has its fans. It is also known for kung-po chicken, popcorn shrimp and moo goo gai pan,...

I can't believe after 40 years, they lost the lease. As we left last night, I looked up one block, and there was Croce's. They lost their lease Downtown end of this year. What's up? Anyway, John & I will miss our favorite place & Martin and his staff. There was always an excellent vibe and the smoked seaweed chicken rocked!- Marian Yamauchi

So sad to have this landmark in Hillcrest/Midtown being lost to more condos. Martin and the staff at MH have been so gracious to us over the 2 decades we have been going there, we will truly be at a loss. Mandarin House had the best ambience for groups, great food, great service, and great prices. Not to mention flaming...

Old school decor, strong & yummy drinks served in tiki glasses, & traditional American Chinese fare. Its a kitschy & fun flashback to another era when the traditional Chinese diner was a restaurant staple. This place has been in San Diego forever & I hope it stays.

Have eaten at this restaurant for many years, food and service is always great, call ahead for take-out which only takes about 15 minutes. Cashew Chicken is the best!
