Help us make it rightLes Halles Downtown enjoys a very central location between City Hall, Wall Street and the Fulton Street Market. Its menu, similar to the original Les Halles, is casual French and inspired by the small Parisian brasseries and cafes. It includes many sandwiches and salads. The establishment is comprised of two rooms: one lively around the long bar and a quieter room that can be closed off for...
Restaurant
A bustling parisian brasserie in the heart of the Financial District. Serving classic French cuisine in a lively atmosphere.
Ever "popular", these "vibrant" French brasseries are known for their "first-rate" steak frites, "dark" lighting and "noisy" decibels; though the "people-watching" can be "fun", "don't count on seeing" long-gone chef-at-large Anthony Bourdain.
Like its older Flatiron sibling, this classic brasserie is best known for its meats---and dare we say, a first-rate French onion soup, oozing with cheesy goodness as well as the traditional cassoulet "Toulousain." Of course, the eatery is also known for celeb chef Anthony Bourdain, author of Kitchen Confidential, who cooked at the original Les Halles. The exposé of the real life,...
Sister restaurant to the original Park Avenue branch, Les Halles Downtown is a steakhouse that also serves classic French brasserie dishes like Onion Soup, Grilled Sea Food, Confit de Canard, and Choucroute Garnie, (familiar to fans of Brasserie Les Halles on Park Avenue). There are also less familiar French dishes, such as Tartiflette, a combination of thinly sliced potatoes layered with bacon...
Part bistro, part brasserie, the cheerful Les Halles Downtown is ideal for anyone who finds pleasure in beef, pork, potatoes or a good glass of Gigondas. Patrons chat in soupy French at the...
Got quiet table in the front of restaurant, near entrance, away from main dining and large group of 14, which may have been noisy. Unfortunately, wait staff forgot about us a bit and we had to hail or call specifically. Overall, Les Halles is still a neighborhood favorite and food is good.
I have never been so humiliated in my life... the restaurant was closed for the weekend and I did not get any notification neither from Open Table nor from the restaurant. I will never use Open Table for any reservations ever again.
The food was mediocre, the atmosphere a little shabby and disorganized. We were there for dinner; it may work much better for lunch, which in that neighborhood is probably a busier time.
I used to be a fan of Les Halles --- no more. Had midday lunch, and the service was abysmal, beginning with the disengaged host and continuing to the absolutely terrible table service. Can no longer recommend Les Hales and unlikely to dine here again.
Business lunch for 2 at Les Halles May 3. When I worked downtown, I went to Les Halles often and thoroughly enjoyed the food, ambiance, service and value. I relocated to midtown 2 years ago but was happy to return. With some regret I must say that Les Halles is not what it was. The menu has changed and prices have risen drastically without an increase in quality. Moules frites are now only...
