The Laurel is a gorgeous place to dine in, the only trouble being a menu of strange, exotic appetizers and entrees that make it difficult for you to make up your mind. It's also pricey enough that you might need to up your credit limit before having dinner. I think the food is a bit over-rated, but I've always had a good time dining here.

great happy hour/great wine list

I decided to try out Laurel for my 24th birthday dinner, I was not disappointed and had a great dining experience. I am in love with the design of this...

Finally, a restaurant in San Diego that shows some originality! Can't miss dishes are the beet and goat cheese terrine and the piece de resistance...the S'more bread pudding. Throw in an eclectic - albeit slightly dated - decor and impeccable service and Laurel emerges as well worth the short drive up Bankers Hill.

The Duck Confit was the best I've had in a while. Service and decor also exceptional. Don't worry about what people who order salmon say, their order proves they're Philistines.
