Editorial review from Citysearch

This is a very dangerous place to send your elderly loved ones. The director of this facility is verbally abusive and will send your loved ones packing with a days notice and leave them with no where to go. He is a liar and a bully and does not care for the elderly and is only there to squeeze as much money out of people who most likely live off of a fixed income.

July 2011; Much Improved

A little over 2 years ago I selected Oakdale Heights for my mom. From that date the previous ownership let the place run down and there was a year or so of many problems and unhappiness.

After 2 years of hard work and reinvesting the revenue, the new owners have upgraded the facility and the staff are much improved and overall it is now a very good facility. Menu choices and food quality much improved. Lots of events and activities. New shuttle bus, well attended exercise sessions. The memory care section has been upgraded and modernized. The place looks and smells clean. People...

There's a new team in place

I see from the very negative review given back in 2009 that much has changed at Oakdale Heights for the better. The new Executive Director is Josh Buller and he has made dramatic improvements to Oakdale Heights in the past year. He has been handpicking a team of service minded people to transform Oakdale Heights' culture into a very attractive one. I looked at quite a few places to help my folks find a long-term residence and found this place to be unsurpassed. The grounds a beautifully landscaped, the meals are quite acceptable and the residents are happy. I'm impressed with the...

A Pleasant Environment

My folks love it at Oakdale, and they're very picky. The food is good, the employees friendly and the over all environment is very supportive. Before I suggested Oakdale Heights to my parents, I checked out a lot of other assisted living facilities in and around San Diego and Oakdale was the best for the price. Sure, we could have seriously considered a few other places with more amenities, but for a much higher price and some of these other locations didn't offer much more. Besides, the rooms at Oakdale are generally a little larger with 10 foot ceilings.

My folks don't care about...

What Happen

I put my father in this facility and it was very good, but since they sold the place and the new managers are not senior friendly. I can't decide if they are trying to make it bad so people will leave or this is just how its going to be. So many seniors are leaving, I guess they want to refurbish or just really increase the rent. But, the food is horrible and now they stopped taking the seniors to church on Sunday. They aren't cleaning the rooms as much and the trash is so bad people are putting it out side in the hall. I'm moving my Father. They need to be reported to a senior ombudsman.
