Local ice cream shop serving up scoops at this Castro Valley location since 2004 but the family has been in the ice cream business for 135 years. Originally from Denmark, the Knudsen's came here in the 60's and has been making ice cream stateside ever since. The place reminds me a bit like Fenton's in Oakland and serves huge sundaes as well as diner food. Nice place to visit on a hot night.

While I'm not too big a fan of their food I will always appreciate what they are especially good at; their ice cream, of course! It is always super creamy and soft, never any issues with ice chips...

Knudsen's has been a family owned and operated ice creamery since 1968. Over the years the menu has expanded to include scrumptious ice cream cakes and desserts, candies, chocolates and even some family dining favorites such as half-pound burgers, sliders and old-fashioned sandwiches.
