What the community has to say about Kenmare

Information about this business (3)

Civetta is reimagined by Paul Sevigny and Nur Khan with the help of head chef Joey Campanaro (of Market Table/Little Owl fame).

With decades of experience in the hospitality industry, Lou Ceruzzi, Nur Khan, Paul Sevigny, and Joey Campanaro bring you Kenmare. Designed by Fernando Santangelo, Kenmare evokes the feel of the Mediterranean coast with a Bohemian flair and organic curves reminiscent of Gaudi?s buildings. Its warm pink, hand-troweled stucco walls exude the feeling of a quaint local restaurant, while the richly...

MaisonO is a modern Japanese Izakaya in Soho offering small plate dining in an art-driven, fun atmosphere.

THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Kenmare Restaurant Review

Kenmare is a do-over for many of its principal players. Backing the project are Paul Sevigny and Nur Khan, who last worked together at the late Beatrice Inn. Designing the menu, meanwhile, is Joey Campanaro of Market Table and The Little Owl (yes, his famed sliders made it to the menu here). And, the space itself is a reclamation project of Civetta, an unloved downtown Italian spot. The end...

Classy Mediterranean restaurant from Nur Khan and Paul Sevigny. Think big, Nolita. Big like Joey Campanaro, of Little Owl and Market Table fame, who consulted on the kitchen. Inventive menu, natch, scallops with spinach-strawberry salad, swordfish and caramelized fennel, New York strip and asparagus risotto. Medi theme carries over into marble tables, vaulted ceiling, pastel shades. Accents as...

Citysearch Editorial Review

What happens when the dons of the hospitality industry--Paul Sevigny (Beatrice Inn), Nur Khan (Rose Bar) and Joey Campanaro (The Little Owl and Market Table)--join forces? The result is Kenmare, a...

Scenesters flock to this sexy Nolita restaurant.

A golden, winking bird marks the entry to this bustling, bi-level eatery--a fitting logo considering that “civetta” is the word for both flirt and owl in Italian. And while this rustic Italian...

They open the sliding doors and you feel like you are a part of New York. The sound of the subway, the smell. Food was fantastic and an awesome wine list. I can't wait to go back.

Beautiful people, disappointing everything else

I eat out often, but have rarely written reviews. However, this place was so disappointing, I had to share. To start, the hostess was very rude. I had an 8:30 reservation on a Friday night. When my friend and I arrived, the place was basically empty (literally, only 6 or 7 tables were seated). The hostess still made us wait at the bar. She showed us to our table a few minutes later, but despite...

Service is not good

We were very excited to try this restaurant after all the hype, but the service is ridiculously bad. The 6 of us sat down and it took them almost 20 minutes to come over to the table. We finally ordered cocktails and the servier returned only to drop the glass spilling drinks all over everyone at the table. The glass broke all over the table so we all got up. I asked the host to please move our...

Not sure how the food is... all i remember is the awful service!

Wait forever for drinks and food... and after 11pm they wouldn't allow our friend in to join us. Skip this spot, they have their heads up their bums!

Avoid this place completely...

The woman at the door thinks she runs the world and the so called "manager" can't do anything about it. On saturday night around 10pm, 7 of us arrived and were given a table downstairs for drinks and food. We had one late arrival which we advised before we were seated. The food was mediocre at best, and shadowed by the aweful service. Icing on the cake came when our friend arrived around...

Tips about this business (6) view all

Look Good

If the upstairs area is too crowded, head to the subterranean lounge--provided you get the nod from the model guarding the entrance.

What to Drink

Created by famed mixologist Charlotte Voisey, the specialty cocktail menu includes an Alaskan Sour (Hendrick/s gin, yellow chartreuse and fresh lime juice) and the American Beauty (Jim Beam rye, agave and muddled berries).

What to Eat

Highlights on the menu include the asparagus gratin appetizer (endives, fontina and pecan bread crumbs) and a souped-up version of cheese fries and gravy.

The Extras

Reservations are a must, but even if you have one you may be asked to wait in the boudoir-esque downstairs lounge, accented with marble tables and red banquettes.

What to Drink

Selections from a lengthy, all-Italian wine list are served along with lethally strong cocktails, like the Notte Civetta, made with rye, cherry and lemon.
