From their point of view, how would they know a person did not just say they lost it so they could get additional jewelry. Besides, the mount may have been OK when they checked it and something happened in the meantime.I think they did right by offering a discount. Lost merchandise is generally not covered under ANY warranty. It's unfortunate that you lost the earring but that's not something that any warranty would ever cover.
