The jewel box is great for food, and drinks. You can not beat the prices at the dive bar. Since Holly took over the establishment it has receive great reviews. Voted the # 1 dive bar in san diego! The regular people who visit is the added plus. Free pool until 4 pm. Sunday is steak night for $9.00 it includes new york steak, potatoe, and salad.

This used to be one of San Diego's gems, hands down the best dive bar. But since it's changed hands, it's gone way down hill. The crowd has changed alot, and for the worse. Before they wouldn't let in some of the less savory clientele, now it's fair game for anybody. They employ some of the worst bartenders I've seen-completely lazy, and unknowledgable(who doesn't know what a greyhound is!). The food used to be one of the great reasons to go there, but the menu has gotten smaller, and the food has gotten nastier. And the last time I ordered food, the cook with the long greasy hair...

This place is the standard Cheers-style neighborhood pub. They offer pool, cheap snacks and the main event: the booze!

This East Village standby has dusted some of the dirt off its proverbial shoulder over the last few years, but it still remains one of the neighborhood's best dive bars. The Box, of course, was king of the East Village before it was even known as such, and certainly before the big kid on the block moved in down the street, bringing with it hordes of baseball glove-toting suburbanites.
