Help us make it rightJayne's Gastropub is San Diego's first gastropub. The gastropub is essentially the gourmet update of the classic British pub. Familiar and welcoming but very refined. Owner Jayne Battle has executed this concept to a T drawing on her native upbringing in Liverpool, England and 12 years working in the great restaurants of San Francisco. Updated pub classics such as Bangers and Mash and...

It’s all about simple food done well at this North Park gastropub: onion soup, garlicky shrimp, steak frites --- these are the types of basic bistro dishes that Jayne’s elevates above the norm. The cozy, dimly lit restaurant has a European ambience that makes you want to return for a big plate of bangers and mash accompanied by a few pints at the bar. We also suggest the light, crisp sea bass...

Weekend getaway from LA and came in this place. We had bone-in pork chop and iron steak. Pork chop was over cooked and iron steak had a full flavor. I guess some people like the way but it was so much and too seasoned for me.
Firstly, parking was extremely difficult. The restaurant was probably the noisiest place I have ever been to. It was so bad that we considered leaving. They offered us a table outside which we took but it was really cold outside. Not a very good experience. The staff was nice and our server even commented on the noise level inside-unbearable.
Food is excellent. The servers are always attentive. One really loud guest almost ruined our evening. I wish management would have handled that better. But otherwise a great time with my husband.
Always great:) We enjoyed the specials in addition to our usual favorites: The Gambas al Ajillo is perfect (order one per person as you might not want to share). Clams with Chorizo where tasty...The Affogato dessert was a hit, too...Did I mention the very hip, cool and not a miss wine list?
I had very low expectations considering that I was going to an English Pub. This restaurant is above and beyond any other English Pub I've ever been. The menu was well rounded and the food was exquisite. I had the Eggplant tikka masala and it was the best! My boyfriend had the pork chop and it was divine. The wine list was affordable and well picked. We shared a bottle of red from Bordeaux and...

Jaynes is proud to have one of San Diego’s most cutting edge wine lists. Natural, orange, high acid, geeky stuff? Absolutely. Something with a bit of age and properly stored at a decent price? We’ve got it. Rose? How about some Tempier. Burgundy, Piedmont, Bordeaux, Rioja,Willamette, Sonoma, Slovenia… Please feel free to ask your server or Jon and Jayne for help finding a great bottle...

Soft jazz plays at this popular lounge and pub. Fish and chips, sandwiches, fries and the usual public house favorites are offered on their menu. They also serve a wide variety of domestic and imported draught and bottled beer.
Jayne's is the first "gastropub" in San Diego, getting its name from both gastronomy, the study of culture with food as its central focus, and pub, the British concept of meeting friends for casual dining and drinking.
Try for outside on the back patio if the tables are available.
Hot spot Air Conditioned Lounge is right next store.
