Editorial reviews from the web (3)

"Of the thousand places" in the Gaslamp, "locals know" to pick this upmarket Italian for "delicious, uncomplicated" pastas and "creative" entrees that are "a notch above" the usual; the brick-lined space is "romantic", and though service can be "spotty", expat camerieres will "share a laugh" and "make you feel at home."

Osteria Panevino Restaurant Review

The chairs are still as uncomfortable as on the day this Italian bistro opened, but who cares when the cooking is good? Start with something sumptuous from the mozzarella pantry like burrata with asparagus or bruschettas with olive tapenade or prosciutto di Parma. The menu includes vegetable-stuffed focaccia pizzas, traditional pizzas, and a slew of attractive pastas, as well as more formal...

Cold antipasti platters, piping hot bowls of risotto and brick oven pizzas please Italian-seeking lunch and dinner crowds.

In Short
The senses are ignited upon entering Osteria Panevino, where guests are greeted by rich, Italian aromas emanating from the rustic brick oven that is the dining room's focal...

We ordered a light dinner, a fresh tasting Caprese Salad and then a wonderful fresh lobster over asparagus risotto which was absolutely delicious. Clean modern yet small restaurant, food and cocktail was outstanding and portions were generous. Waiter offered sparking or still water, but failed to mention he would be serving non-complimentary bottled water. I had reserved a table for two, we were seated in a cramped corner next to the servers water refill station at the bar, disappointing.
