I've been to Herb Bauer in Fresno three times and each time I visited the store I was talked down to and treated with disrespect. My latest experience was just today 08/23/09, wherein I entered the store intent on purchasing a handgun. When I asked if they carry a particular brand of handgun, the employee treated me as if I were stupid merely for asking. I really don't know that much about guns, so I wasn't completely sold on the particular brand that I initially requested. I feel that with some direction, he could have swayed me to purchase another brand, but the only thing I'm sold on now is never returning to that store again and making sure that everyone I know is aware of how I was treated there. I would give it a zero out of five stars if I could.

Don't waste your time or money here. My first & last visit to Herb Bauer. Bunch of D-bags working behind the gun counter w/ no real life customer service or even experience. There's plenty of store in Fresno with better service & pricing, here's a example of their commies pricing:
Remington 870 SM, Herb asking 400 for a used one on the rack, got a brand new 870 SM @ sports authority for 350 along w/ mfg rebate. NO JOKE!
Not even sure how such a store with horrible service stays in business, maybe thanks to Bakerloo... lol .. even if H.B. was the last gun store in CA, i rather give up my gun...
What a JOKE! I went to purchase a fire arm at Herb Bauer and their staff go out of their way to make you feel like an idiot! I am not an expert in guns but I would like to think I know a thing or two. I asked for a certain model of gun and was told it is not for sale in CA. Not a problemâ?¦ but when I asked why the sales rep laughed at me and said ""short answer....a bunch of commies in the state capitol"". I then asked for a comparable gun and he showed me one that was $500 more ($1000) than the original one I was inquiring about. I told him I was looking for a gun more around the $500...
Horrible .........was shopping for a deer rifle for my 13 year old son .....was to be his first rifle ..I related this to one of the staff who then showed me a Remington 243....the size I was looking for...it was priced $720.00 . I told him it was more than I wanted to spend .....that I had been shopping around and had been looking in the $350 to $400 range he responded by saying ""OK"" put the gun back on the shelf and walked away with no further help or interest . I waited a minute to see if he was going to offer to show me another gun ......but nothing.......rude will never shop there...
One star would be too many. IMHO
Don't know how they've managed to stay in business, let alone grow.
there's certainly room in Fresno for a kayak shop that is run in a professional manner, with just plain common courtesy.
