Hotel in the heart of San Diego has provided attentive service since 1954.
4 stars only because the walls were paper thin. You could hear every word and noise from the rooms all around and the parking lot. Made it hard to sleep.

I was there for a business conference. The motel is old but they have done a good job of upkeep as far as I could see. Bar and restaurant area was open which could cause some noise problems. Security was fairly tight with on site patrols at night and the parking area was gated.
The Handlery is one of a string of hotels just north of the city. Our room was clean and reasonably furnished. The beds were not very firm — the mattresses are on the thin side.
