Editorial reviews from the web (4)

The main building on this property is an Edwardian-style mansion built in 1908 for sugar baron John D. Spreckels, who once owned much of downtown San Diego. Rooms in the mansion and in the newer motel-style buildings are quaintly furnished; some have patios or balconies. The inn is adjacent to the Coronado harbor and near many restaurants and shops, but it's much smaller and quieter than the...

Private and stately, this over 100-year-old mansion (once owned by the locally famed Spreckles sugar family) is located in the heart of Coronado's village and just one block from the beach. The recently remodeled guestrooms include the…

Situated across the street from the famed "Hotel Del," the Glorietta Bay Inn often gets billed as the poor man's version of the grande dame, but this 11-room charmer has much to recommend it. It's substantially less expensive than its fancy neighbor, it offers free Wi-Fi and breakfast, and it doesn't nickel-and-dime with resort fees (the Del charges for all of the above). The former home of San...

I love this place! I had the pleasure of staying at this beautiful and historic Coronado’s hotel. I’ve stayed at many hotels in San Diego and on Coronado Island but this is by far the most comfortable, hospitable and enjoyable stay I’ve ever had.
The hotel has 2 designated parking lots and a bike rack. Which is a Godsend in...

This is my second time to Coronado Island. My first stay was at the Marriott, which was nice, but was a mile walk from all the shops and restaurants, let alone the beach. This hotel is in a perfect location. It also has very clean rooms. The staff is wonderful & very accommodating (traveling with a 10-month old). The breakfast...

I cannot say enough good things about this Inn! If you don't want to spend the money staying at the Del, then this is the best place to stay! William from Kalamazoo, Michigan was so much help! He set the reservation when I called and also happened to be the one at the front desk upon our arrival. He gave...

No matter if you're staying for one night or one month, everyone is there to be sure you have a wonderful visit; Clauia Ludlow, general manager, and her staff are fabulous.! The Mansion was the home of the John Spreckels family formerly...

Great getaway spot

A fun spot for a couple's getaway -- much better than the crazy Hotel Del across the street, but with the same convenient location. I would stay away from the pool -- small, and quickly noisy when kids are there -- and opt for the beach. The room had old-world charm, and the staff were nice.
