Information about this business (7)

Hipster style, cool Pan-Latin tapas and top-shelf margaritas bring big-city buzz to Albany's Solano Avenue.

Fonda Solana, loosely interpreted in Spanish as "café on a sunny corner" is located on Solano Ave. in Albany. The food selection for dinner is created by Chef August Churchill. We feature a large selection of Latin American small dishes, a full bar menu, and an extensive wine list. Fonda gladly accepts reservations for six or more.

From OpenTable:

We are a Pan-Latin, small plates, casual restaurant.
We offer a full bar with wine by the glass and bottle and beer on tap. We source our food from farms that practice sustainable agriculture. Our spirit and wine program is craft and small producer oriented.

Fonda Solana Restaurant Review

Diners like Fonda's small-plates menu of Mexican standards and pan-Latin specialties. Noteworthy dishes on the evolving menu could include grilled rack of lamb with chimichurri, duck tacos, tostaditas and other little whims that keep guests returning time after time. The hearty stews and grilled fish selections are also enjoyable. A nice, reasonably priced wine and beer list and creative...

The food and drinks were delicious. The noise level made it difficult to carry on a conversation.

Every bite was delicious, the plantains with black beans, tacos, nachos and cocktails!

The food and service is excellent. The prices are fairly reasonable. The problem with Fonda is the noise! They play music even though there is so much noise from people talking and poor acoustics. Why don't they forget playing the music which only adds to the disagreeable level of noise!!

We enjoyed being upstairs because it was a cold night and it was warm and cozy feeling upstairs. We did not realize that it was a tapas place but once we were informed we were pleased because we were able to fit in a salad each and a main dish each without being too full for dessert.

Brunch: Another trendy tapas place, Fonda has the distinction of being owned by the same folks who brought us Jimmy Bean's and Lalime's. The festive two-story restaurant is roomy and fun, with a mixture of furniture styles and colorful accents. Menu stars include a dish of toasted peanuts and pumpkin seeds with garlic and lime, duck and pomegranate tacos with arbol salsa, grilled skirt steak...
