Help us make it rightIn 1940, the Cuellar brothers opened the first El Chico, serving their Mama's very own recipes for authentic Tex-Mex cuisine. Over fifty years later, we are still committed to serving the best. We use only the freshest ingredients in all of our dishes. Our steak fajitas are made with a fresh, never frozen, quality cut of beef and we make our own salsa, chips, beans, rice and other specialties...
A Mexican food tradition since 1940 has grown into more than 75 restaurants. The El Chico story began when Adelaida Cuellar's homemade tamales drew huge crowds at a small county fair in 1926. Her sons opened a cafe in Dallas, following their mother's recipes for enchiladas with chile con carne sauce. Today, El Chico is still serving top-quality Mexican food favorites with fresh new specialties...
We were traveling through and decided to stop here. The food did not taste good...salsa tasted like marinera sauce, taco shell tasted burnt, taco salad tasted like it had chocolate in it. Though the waiter was attentive the overall service of the place was very poor. Will definitely not be going back.
Always a pleasure when we go here to eat. Food is good, atmosphere is nice. Price is always good too. We eat here a good bit and it seems to get better each time.
Its always a friendly atmosphere and the food is always great. The service is wonderful. The prices are affordable. The desserts are good but the best one is the brownie with the ice cream on top. Its to die for. This is a must try if you havent been there before.
Monroe has many mexican resturants to choose from. I have tried 3 or 4. El chico's located by the movie theater and Cheddars was the best. Great salsa , I am picky about my salsa. The service was good fast and food good. Not to mention the the margaritas were not to bad either!
I was excited when i saw an El Chico in Monroe LA. It was my favorite place to eat when I was in college. The food wasn't bad, just was okay...a little bland i thought. Service was fine...I probably will look for other mexican food options next trip.
