Editorial reviews from the web (2)

Fans get their Cajun and Southern food "fix" at this "consistently good" joint where the "Louisiana-style" menu includes eats like fried chicken, gumbo and "fine fried green tomatoes"; "interesting trinkets" fill the "casual" space, giving it a "funky" vibe, and "reasonable prices" help seal the deal.

Neighborhood families and Northwestern students visit this busy Southern spot for down home dishes.

Blackened catfish is phenomenal. If you're not a catfish lover you must try their fried chicken. It's the best.

Eating places

The warm pancakes they give you when you first sit down, will make your mouth water for the rest of the meal. Located in the suburb of Evanston, immediately north of Chicago, this restaurant offers casual-style Deep South fare in an authentic, down-home setting that includes old license plates, rusty aluminum signs, and even an old timey gas pump. What to Drink: The bloody marys are moderately spiced and served in mason jars. For something sweeter, go with the mimosa--it's served in a smallish glass, but contains a healthy dose of champagne.
