The inspiration for Delmonico's began way back in the early 1800's when wild animals still prowled at the gates of the mile-long strip of civilization known as New York City on the otherwise untamed island of Manhattan. Giovanni Del Monico, a Swiss-born sea captain trading along the New York/Cuba route, sensed the need for something a touch more genteel than the post road taverns popping up...
The oldest continually operating restaurant in New York City (since 1837), austere Delmonico's is steeped in cultural, political, and culinary history. Lobster Newburg and Baked Alaska were invented here—and are still served. Inside the stately mahogany-panel dining room, tuck into the classic Delmonico's steak, a 20-ounce boneless ribeye smothered with frizzled onions, and don't forget to...
The best delivery I've ever had! Seriously

We live in Michigan so this was a bucket list, destination dinner. I fully appreciate the history of the restaurant and it lived up to my every hope. Wait staff was fabulous and knowledgeable, bartenders were amazing. Food was everything I hoped for. Thank you. Only disappointment was allowing patrons in wearing short, short, raggedy cut offs. They were ushered downstairs but somehow,...
Such a wonderful dinner! The waitstaff was impeccable and the food was AMAZING! Would definitely return and recommend to everyone I know.
Wonderful historic restaurant. Ambiance is tremendous, service is fantastic. David, our waiter, was very knowledgeable about the history of Delmonico’s, everything on the menu. He customized the signature wedge salad with slices of perfectly prepared mouthwatering Delmonico steak. Will go back next time for a special occasion.
First of all the restaurant is absolutely beautiful - built in 1837 the restaurant is old world charm. The food is always consistent and delicious - this time around, we started off with a Caesar salad and Hudson Valley Foie Gras - both were delicious. Then filet mignon was tender and yummy. The bar was hopping with a great selection of wines.
Always amazing !!
