Help us make it rightOpened in 1961, this museum and art education center has handsome gardens with fragrant blooms, and peaceful, winding walkways. The permanent collection at Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens focuses on the history of art with exhibits spanning the eras from ancient times to the 20th century. Temporary exhibits are also presented throughout the year. The museum is located off I-95, and approximately...
The Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens is the largest fine arts museum in Northeast Florida. The Cummer was established in 1958..., when art collector, garden enthusiast, and civic leader Ninah M.H. Cummer bequeathed her art collection and riverfront home to create a museum. Today, the core collection of 60 pieces from Mrs. Cummer's estate has grown to include nearly 5,000 works of art. The 2.5...

The Wark Collection of early-18th-century Meissen porcelain is just one reason to visit this former estate on the St. Johns River, which includes 13 permanent galleries with more than 5,500 items spanning more than 4,000 years, and 3 acres of riverfront gardens, including a sculpture garden and outdoor plaza, that form a showcase for northeast Florida's blooming seasons and indigenous fauna....
Built on the grounds of a private Tudor mansion, this impressive museum is worth a visit for anyone who appreciates the visual arts. The permanent collection encompasses works from 2000 B.C. to the present. It's especially rich in American Impressionist paintings, 18th-century porcelain, and 18th-century Japanese woodblock prints. I find the art here a bit boring and too focused on landscapes,...

Happened into a docent tour of the gardens. Beautiful view of the river. We were between azalea and wisteria seasons, but things were still lovely.
I'm not an art person. I like car and motorcycle museums. My wife is more the art lover in our family - I go along to get along. In the case of the Cummer (as it is locally known) I'm glad I made the effort. I even learned some things that had previously been a mystery to me. While I...
We enjoy each and every visit to the Cummer. The gardens will promise to be exceptional when the flowers start blooming.
This was a very pleasant surprise in Jacksonville. The art was beautiful and a variety for all. The gardens are very nice and even enjoyable at this time of year without a lot of blooms - the view of the river and garden combo is very unique.
This is a nice museum with a good collection and a beautiful garden area (marred only the nearby superhighway). I spent about 3 hours there, taking my time and enjoying the afternoon. The food in the cafe is a good as well.
