Help us make it rightA friendly neighborhood alcove offering top-notch breakfasts to a young, hip crowd.
Clinton St. Baking Company & Restaurant has only 32 seats, but the kitchen dishes up breakfast, lunch, dinner and weekend brunch seven days a week. The small bar serves wine, imported beer, and special alcohol drinks, plus French roast coffee ground in-house, milkshakes made with Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory Ice Cream, and, in colder months, the wildly popular Hot Buttered Cider. The menu uses...
When husband and wife team, Neil Kleinberg and DeDe Lahman, opened Clinton St. Baking Co in April 2001, their mission was to make the best baked goods in the city, using the freshest ingredients, hand-mixed in small batches. They bought dark French-roast coffee, ground it in house, and hired a college student to serve it with warm muffins, biscuits and scones. Soon the locals stumbled in, and...
"Bring War and Peace" to pass the time in the "brunch line" at this "tiny" LES bakery/cafe where the "ridiculous" waits pay off when homespun Americana "made with love" (especially those "divine pancakes") arrives; insiders hint "dinner is just as good" – and "you can get in."
Once known for its savory brunch (including its now-famous blueberry pancakes), this 32-seat Lower East Side eatery has blossomed into a full-scale morning-to-night bastion of taste bud-tantalizing goodness. Rosemary chicken with carrot-parsnip purée and lentil soup seem designed to comfort the soul on a winter's day, while the fish tacos and Maryland crab cakes are good any time of the year...
There once was a time when this Lower East Side restaurant was the place to come for brunch. Specifically, it was the place to eat blueberry pancakes, which many regulars professed were the best in the city, if not the state, or the whole country. But all that changed when owners Neil Kleinberg and DeDe Lahman opened their beloved eatery for lunch and dinner. Oh, it's still a great place for...
Where downtown fashion vampires feign eating—when they dare be seen by daylight, that is. Lunch and brunch anchor the block, with beautifully light French toast. Buttermilk biscuits don't leave holes in the sheetrock when you throw 'em. Also serves "real" food like shrimp and stuff, but everybody's here for a yeast and sugar high. Go on and carbo-load without the self-hatred.
Though they are open all day, breakfast and desserts are the best offerings here. The blueberry pancakes with maple butter and the buttermilk-biscuit egg sandwich are worth braving the morning lines for, while the desserts, all homemade and topped with a scoop or two of ice cream from the Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory, are good any time of day.
Came here for brunch on a friends recommendation and it was worth the trip. Had to queue for 10 mins to get in but worth the wait; I had caramelised banana and pecan French toast with maple butter which was to die for.
We were luck enough to visit twice without reservations midweek, at around 11ish. The portions are huge so sharing is recommended. The food is amazing. The blueberry pancakes are tender and melt in the mouth, the potato cakes with the salmon and cream cheese are...
A friend's suggestion brought us here on a Monday morning and the place was already full a little after 9am - who knew? The breakfast menu has expected choices of pancakes, waffles, eggs and also fun choices like chicken and waffles and potato pancakes (similar...
Have tried a few times to grab breakfast here but either I didn’t have time or they always have long wait. This time was able to grab a seat at the bar type area. From the simple house coffee to the pancakes! Sweet heaven...
Well...
Stopped into the restaurant for lunch and had about a half hour wait. Despite the delay, Clinton Street Baking Co. lived up to the positive reviews we'd read. Several of us had the pancakes that the crowd raves about (good response both to the banana...
