The former Old Town eatery has found success in La Mesa as Casa De Pico offers East County residents authentic Mexican fare. Of particular note is the carnitas that we like to wrap in griddle-fresh tortillas. We also suggest the char-broiled chili poblanos stuffed with moist chicken and smothered in melted cheese. The menu is expansive with everything from ceviche and fajitas to tamales and...
"Festive in decor and spirit", this longtime Grossmont Center Mexican is a "classic" for "fruity frozen margaritas" and "traditional" fare served in a "fun" space complete with "strolling mariachi"; some dismiss it as "gringo" fare, but others appreciate the "affordable" tabs with "fantastic" happy-hour deals and patio seating that's "good for a large group."
The original hub of Old Town's Mexican restaurant scene relocated inland to Grossmont Center, literally.
My wife and I met some friends of ours at Casa De Pico Mexican Restaurant in La Mesa on Cinco De Mayo, to enjoy the Mexican celebration. Lino the Manager of the Casa De Pico restaurant was so nice to get us a table right away, as the restaurant was very crowded. Casa De Pico had a lot of live...
authentic Mexican food with a great atmosphere! I ate out on the patio that had several over sized umbrellas to keep all the tables in the shade.
The meal that I had was hot and fresh. The tortillas were handmade, as well as the salsa. When we asked for a little spicier hot sauce for our tortilla chips, the waiter went and got some fresh made salsa for our request. The waiter was very accommodating and friendly.

Overpriced & highly over rated Mexican food. Service is good, it's a huge restaurant & the employees have worked there forever so I'm assuming it's a good place to work but the food is just ok and it's way overpriced. Partly because this place used to be in Old Town & was a big tourist spot so they basically just moved & kept tourist prices.

Casa De Pico internationally renowned Mexican Restaurant was originally opened by Diane Powers in 1971 in Old Town, San Diego. When our lease expired in 2005, we relocated to Grossmont Center, where we brought with us the spirit of our original location, with it’s Hacienda like archways, hand crafted wrought iron fixtures and beautiful landscaping reminiscent of Mexico. Casa De Pico’s award...
Casa de Pico is styled like an old world, Mexican bazaar where colorful textiles, strolling mariachis and folk art create an authentic experience for locals and tourists. They serve heaping portions of burritos, tostados, grilled meat entrees, carnitas and scrumptious fish tacos. Open daily.
They took everything--chairs, tables, decor, kitchen equipment, staff and the chef, straight form Old Town and brought it to the old Carlos Murphy's restaurant space in the parking lot of Grossmont.
