Carpet fresh overdone ,to mask mildew/mold smell

The location for a pre-cruise stay was perfect. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. After reading other reviews I requested a room not on the first floor. When we entered the room we were overwhelmed by the smell of carpet freshener. But were please with the rooms cleanliness and size and decided simply to open the window to air out the fresher smell. Great room, smelly ride

Room was clean and stocked with basic kitchenware. We were there for the San Jacinto Battle reinactment, so wanted something close. The neighborhood is refinery-rich -- the drive to the hotel is very smelly, but I didn't notice it at the hotel itself. There's a very convenient Kroger grocery across the street and nearby fast food places. We didn't explore much beyond that. It was raining cats...
