I've had some really good grinder sandwiches in the past, but this place is awesome! They have wonderful variety, some surprising selections, and their sandwiches are huge!

I stopped here with my daughter on one of our trips to San Diego and we were impressed with the size and freshness of these sandwiches. It's a cute, family-owned place and the people were really friendly.

I work downtown in club scene, but not sure if I can mention which one, so I won't. I was told to go to California Grinders by my GM if I wanted the best sandwich downtown and in the thirty minutes I was there, I saw people from 6 of the clubs and hotels that are THE hottest spots in downtown--and one of which is under construction, but not quite yet up and running. My co-worker kept pointing out these people to me as I am new to downtown. If you know where California Grinders is located, you can probably figure the clubs and hotel. If it is good enough for the locals, it is good enough...
