Cafe Sevilla Restaurant Review

Before the tapas craze hit the U.S., most of Café Sevilla’s patrons showed up for the live music and traditional flamenco dancers. But now that Spain’s favorite dishes are so popular, the menu is getting its due respect. Nibble on sweet dates stuffed with Cabrales blue cheese, or green mussels in olive oil and lemon with Serrano pepper salsa. The short ribs braised in red wine and accompanied...

Sevilla moved into new digs in spring 2011, giving a fresh look to its tapas bar, nightclub, and restaurant. Thursday through Sunday evenings, it's packed with youthful throngs who crowd the ground-floor bar for drinks, tapas, and live music. Others head to the downstairs club for classics from the Spanish kitchen and professional flamenco dancing on Friday and Saturday nights. The kitchen does...

New location, new welcoming vibe. Reopened in a lighter, airier three-level space, close to the Convention Center at the south end of the Gaslamp District. Share tapas infused with the flavors of Spain, ocean-fresh ceviche, Jamon Iberico sliced tableside, and a pitcher of sangria with your amigos. Better yet, keep them all to yourself! Live flamenco music most nights on the main level, salsa...

We want to like this place, as it looks to be one of the hip places in the Gaslamp Quarter. But the food is barely at par. We are particularly disappointed with the Traditional Paella.

Sevilla was an amazing experience. It was the best tapas I've had outside of Spain. If I lived closer, we'd go a lot! The food was delicious and the service by Grant and the rest of the staff was outstanding. You also can't beat the ambience. Definitely a must go if you are anywhere nearby.
