What the community has to say about Cafe Chloe

Information about this business (3)

A few blocks from Petco Park, a cafe and wine bar, decorated in soft lighting and mahogany wood floors, with a pearl white bar, creates the right ambiance for Cafe Chloe. A large doorway splits two dining rooms, and in both, floor to ceiling windows are framed by mahogany sills. On those warms days, the windows open onto a small patio, which wraps around the corner cafe. And for a little extra...

Cafe Chloe was founded by three partners who are passionate about food, beer and wine.
Tami Ratliffe, John Clute and Alison McGrath wanted to bring a little French culture to the East Village of San Diego.

"Oh-so-French", this "hip little bistro" with "wonderful Parisian ambiance" and "appealing intimacy" draws "top chefs" and "the pretty people now inhabiting East Village" for "joie de vivre"–affirming meals and "killer" wines; staffers are "attentive but not fawning", and though some call costs "inflated", others deem the experience "priceless."

Cafe Chloe Restaurant Review

Despite the occasional service misstep, Café Chloe boasts a highly enjoyable setting and serves solid French bistro fare. Located in San Diego's hippest sector, the East Village, this quaint venue has a big-city vibe. The décor is sophisticated yet charming, with a color scheme of chocolate brown and ivory, Philippe Starck chairs, a grand upstairs booth for larger parties, and a small shopping...

Not your average East Village eatery, this Parisian-style corner bistro serves pomme frites with a dose of sophistication.

This classic French bistro enlivens the corner of Ninth Street and G Street just north of Petco Park with all the looks and smells of an upscale sidewalk cafe in Paris. Small round tables line the...

We liked Café Chloes so much that we went back twice on our week-long visit to San Diego, once for dinner, and once for a glass of wine after a day of sightseeing. Service is friendly and prompt; dining is relaxed and delicious. We sat outdoors to enjoy the lovely weather, but the inside seating is delightful as well. The...

We met some friends for dinner before a padre game. It is in walking distance to Petco Field. The service was great. We had a great Pinot from California. The steaks, chicken and mussels wer all good. The service was excellent. The atmosphere was great for a dinner where you could have a conversation, would eat here again if in...

We've been returning to this place for years, and the food quality has stayed at the same high level. It's rather a Bistro than a Cafe. Menu tends to be small, but everything is tasty. It used to take long for the food to be ready, but not anymore. Always courteous service.

Though maybe not the cheapest place in town, this little spot was amazing for breakfast-Out of the two entrees we tried the Croque Madame was over the top wonderful and the one I tried, that was an open faced sandwich with mushrooms was also very good. Coffee was excellent and the atmosphere is definitely French chic. LOVE! Also noteworthy is...

Easter Brunch

Best meal in San Diego. We were a family of four with a baby. Had the poached eggs (which are so much better than ordinary Eggs Benedict), Croque Madame, and onion tart. Onion tart appeared small and the rest of the family was offering me some of their's. But it was so filling with caramelized onions and cheese, it turned...

On the Menu: These frites are truly French, served in a wrapped-paper cone with just a touch of salt.

Know Before You Go: Many new downtown bistros, including this one, are starting to replace the old stalwarts as hot spots for power lunching among Downtown's heavy-hitting politicos.

What to Drink: Mimosas. Pomegranate mimosas. And not just on Sundays.
