For a good time, head to the corner of 5th & Market 600 5th Ave, San Diego, CA 92101

LOCATED IN THE HEART OF SAN DIEGO'S GASLAMP DISTRICT, barleymash is the fun, high-energy downtown restaurant and bar that celebrates the richness of American culture through its appetizing and progressive bar fare. Both the restaurant philosophy and menu offerings draw heavily from two barroom staples: beer and bourbon. The name, in fact, refers to the typical grain mixture used in the brewing...

Best Coffee Shop

The first time I came here I got White chai and it was incredible. The atmosphere invites long conversations. I also tried the iced coffee and a walnut pesto panini. The staff was very kind and the coffee was some of the best that I found in San Diego.

Light up indoors at this Gaslamp espresso bar and smoke shop that serves up coffee and tea with a side of antiques.

In Short
A far cry from the stark atmosphere at most modern coffeehouses, this European inspired café is crammed floor to ceiling with knick-knacks, paintings, vintage vases, and...

We skipped the appetizers and went for their Brunch menu! Tried their amazing tomatoes soup with their Veggie Burger ! The Veggie burger was awesome…. Double Quinoa Patties with your burger toppings. We also tried their Chicken Burger with jicama slaw which was a winner...too!

Our server was great and recommended us Mango Beer which didn’t disappoint.

Go here during game time as they might...

Stopped in for lunch and to watch sports. Our service was good, the food was good and the crowd was lively.

Typical tourist restaurant. Serve a cold, overpriced beer and bring out mediocre food. If you want a large choice of cold beer, this is a good place. But if you want a decent meal, walk by.

Presidents’ Day. We chose this place because it was busy, others in the area looked dodgy and very quiet. Although we had to wait 5/10 mins happy to do so. Our server was really helpful as we planned to have duck duck goat mac’n’cheese and...a ranch hog Mac’ n’cheese, she advised the portions were large, she wasn’t wrong, glad we chose the duck duck goat. Birdie to bogey beer and blood orange...

I was here for work and someone recommended this restaurant. Happy hour is over at 5 so I missed that. I ordered the Mac and cheese with mushroom and onions on top and did not like it at all. I had a beer that was...good. I tried a spicy margarita was not spicy. I went back to the beer. After every drink I finished the bartender asked if I was ready for the check like I was being evicted. My...

Tips about this business (4)

Where To Sit

Grab a table by the window and enjoy people-watching as you sip your latte.

The Extras

The owner, instantly recognizable in his trademark fedora, often treats regulars to complimentary wine or a sample of his fresh-baked pastries.

Know Before You Go

Tables are jammed very close together, the noise level is high, and it's not the best place for doing work on a laptop.

The Extras

If coffee's not your thing, try one of the many flavors of smoothies and Italian sodas.
