Butter Restaurant has maintained an exclusive niche restaurant scene for stylish Manhattanites since its initial inception on Lafayette St. in 2002. The American restaurant is helmed by Food Network star and Executive Chef Alex Guarnaschelli, who uses greenmarket offerings to create a seasonal me...
Butter always sticks to their classic garments, that can be worn at any time and anywhere. These include loose fitting blouses and slacks in basic colors like gray, black, brown and white. The clothes are unassuming and you will certainly not find any jazzy colors, designs, patterns and styles. They also have swim suits, sweater, dresses, jackets, jeans, shoes etc. Do not be disappointed with...
Oddly enough, the titular ingredient can scarcely be discerned on the menu at Butter, an ambitious dining room situated over a trendy subterranean drink-and-dance scene (the Birch Lounge). The décor could be called Adirondack-chic, with split-log seats in the front lounge and a backlit screen print of a forest dominating the elegant dining room with its arched ceiling. Downstairs is darker and...
Young Hollywood still flocks to Richie Akiva's wood-paneled homage to deforestation. Hallway tube leads to soaring main dining space, which resembles the inside of a just-popped roll of Pillsbury dough. Chef Alex Guarnaschelli serves up surprisingly hearty grub, with heavy meats and greenmarket veggies. Downstairs Birch Room lounge carries on tree theme, with Mondays strictly for the créme de...
Something fascinating has happened on the rather staid restaurant row along Lafayette Street near the Public Theatre. After years of stagnant culinary offerings in the vicinity, along came executive chef Alexandra Guarnaschelli, who offers traditional American fare highlighted and enhanced by subtle global influences with a fine touch for seasonal ingredients. In recent years, while Butter...

Went there last week. Was looking forward to the experience since making reservations one month ago from California. I love the ambience and the food was amazing. I'm taking one star off for the service. Our waiter served me my steak when I was only half way through my salad.
From our app to our entree, everything was extremely salty. It was bad. I had to send my over cooked filet back, and the steak I got back was overcooked as well...and it looked suspiciously similar to the original steak...hmmm. But I didn't want to be too difficult and I just ate it. It didn't really matter considering the salt pretty much overpowered any good flavor or texture the steak might...
One of the most amazing experiences....the food excellent, the service excellent and atmosphere perfect! Wish I lived closer because I would love to go back...lol
Absolutely delicious food and excellent vodka martinis. One of the best restaurants that I have been to in my life!
