Do not bring your dog here!!

This past holiday week my dog stayed at the Brooklyn Doghouse for 6 days and 5 nights. When we picked her up she had a gash below her right eye and conjunctivitis. We could understand her having those 2 issues being that she was with other dogs for the week, but when we got her to the car she began vomiting. Over the course of 3 hours she vomited 5 times and we had to bring her to the Emergency Vet in Park Slope. $300 later, she is recovering.

Not once did the Brooklyn Doghouse call to let us know she was sick nor did they take her to the vet themselves. When called to inquire what the hell happened, they simply told us that our previously perfectly healthy dog must have been stressed and held it in internally until we picked her up. There was nothing in the log having noted that anything was wrong - in fact, there was nothing in the log PERIOD after having 150 dogs there over the holiday. The owner had an excuse and an answer for everything.

Please do not bring your dog here or trust this boarder. They do not care about the wellbeing of your dog and you will have to go through the emotional trauma and helplessness of an injured and beloved pet.

I think the place should be shut down and will do what I have to do to make it happen.

Should be named "negligence r us"!!!

How long before this place is closed down?????

My dog was viciously attacked by two dogs there, and they never told me. I found out by him yelping when I hugged him around the neck and he ran in terror. I saw three huge gashes under his dense black fur and was outraged. To make matters worse, they were nasty when I inquired about what happened, told me "it was no big deal" and never thought to take him to a vet until I insisted. The establishment owner, whose charm and good manners managed to persuade my trust, took him to his doctor (his son's mom so it probably cost him nothing but gas and tolls). I speculate here, and only here, but perhaps this "good will" was born out of guilt and fear of bad press or perhaps future litigation. This is where my speculation ends, for the record. Following his vet visit, he returned to me shaved and loaded up with anti-biotics. He then got an abscess from the multiple bites and suffered a raging fever the next day, and at that point it was a dreadful waiting game for a few days to see if he'd need surgery. Luckily he didn't, and he healed. Kind hearted as I am, I felt it was an accident and sent him back, entrusting this poor dog to their care yet again. My payback?? They lost him!!!!!!! They blamed the collar he was wearing which is a heavy two inch wide belt type collar with a metal buckle, which a number of animal professionals have testified that in their professional opinion it is virtually impossible that this dog would be able to "break free" from this type and model of collar once fastened. The facts point to their negligence over and over again. Circumstances led me and every intelligent person in and out of the animal care business who heard this story to believe he somehow got out of the daycare center after his collar was removed (since they take their leashes and collars off once inside, ergo the reason he had no collar on). Additionally, to add to my argument of negligence, I got a phone call at 11 am that he was lost, yet he was picked up from my home before 9, so what were they doing all that time??? For instance, if my dog broke free from them and took off, they should have been no more than a block or two behind him at all times had they reacted immediately. The facts just don't add up - and due to their negligence, he was lost all day running through Brooklyn alone; he wound up in by the Pratt Institue in Williamsburg all the way from Park Slope and thanks only to my posting on Craigslist, he was rescued cold, scared, hungry and very thirsty by a good samaritan later that evening. To add insult to injury, when I called to ask for his collar and leash back , I was sent a nasty worded letter that they're holding my "ill fitting collar" and leash hostage as they claim I owe them a fee for van service which I do not. I should have sued them then, and might still do so. Please, if you love your dog - think about how you would feel if you went through what we did and then decide.

I boarded my dog here for 2 weeks over the holidays. They were WAY overbooked with over 140 dogs- well beyond what I thought was capacity, but I trusted their reputation. I picked up my dog and he looked emaciated, spine protruding, and completely frail. He was 75 lbs of healthy muscle when I dropped him off 2 weeks prior. He had a huge gash over his right eye and a cut on his nose and there were scabs down the length of his tail. I immediately brought him to the vet. The staff at the Brooklyn Doghouse said he ""refused to eat"" and had to be given several ""time-outs"". My dog has never...
