In the fall of 2008, M&I Bank received $1.75 billion from the Bush Administration's Troubled Asset Relief Program(TARP). M&I then supported political candidates who chose to demand austerity from some of the same taxpayers whose funds helped ""bail out"" M&I Bank. As a visitor from out of state, I found it quite a shock to have to have an account at this bank when trying to get single dollar bills in exchange for dollar coins that I was given after placing a $20.00 bill in the Metro transit coin machine that would not take the dollar coins after dispensing them. Who would have thought in this day and age, we still have some bank clerks that are not customer service oriented.
