Blue Water Grill Restaurant Review

Blue Water Grill is located in a former bank building in Union Square. The kitchen crafts an almost exclusive seafood menu. Lobster claws its way into bisque. Or order it live and then bid it 'adieu' for a grilled, broiled or steamed send off. The mollusk is even lobbed between brioche slices at lunch. Offerings at the raw bar beckon, too. Before or after you get to all of this, be it at the...

This "time-tested" Union Square "oasis" is still "holding strong" after a revamp, with a market menu of "first-rate seafood" served by "engaging" staffers in an "impressive" former bank with "marble all around" and a "wonderful" side terrace; it runs "a bit expensive", but the "energetic" regulars say it "never fails" "for business or pleasure."

This now-classic seafood palace sails on victoriously with its ocean-traveling menu.

This Union Square classic is such a well-oiled machine, it can feel a little like dining on an cruise ship, albeit an elegant one. Located in a former bank, the three-floor, heavily marbled space...

Delicious food, great atmosphere & service. We had a lovely NYE dinner the service was excellent.

Great food great atmosphere

Y excelente servicio!! Atencion al cliete ?

As always the service and food were very very good. We had lobster and shrimp sushi and crispy skin salmon, a ceaser salad and a seafood Cobb salad. We were surprised that the room was pretty empty and hope it’s just a fluke—we sure would hate to see this great restaurant go.

Once this was one of my very favorite “go to” restaurants. I don’t know if it’s changed hands or chefs but it’s glory days are in the past. I will not go back. My fish was cold. The watermelon salad with feta, barely had any cheese sprinkled on a fat slice of watermelon and there was, for a few minutes, the strong smell of bleach coming from who knows where. The cocktails & dessert were not as...

What to Drink

The wine list is long and pricey, and servers may have trouble recommending one of the few bottles in the $40s. That said, a bump up to a $58 bottle of Dobbes Grand Assemblage Cuvee yields a stellar, light bodied red that pairs well with both fish and meats.

Know Before You Go

Despite an otherwise well-run front of house, half hour waits can accompany reservations.

The Extras

The seafood-wary only have a few options, but a hearty, perfectly cooked filet mignon shouldn't garner any complaints.

The Extras

The downstairs Vault Room seats up to 35, has its own prix fixe menu and is available for private parties or corporate events.

Live Music

The Jazz Dining Room features live music--call for schedule.
