There is indeed an Agata — Agata Musco, who owns the longtime Italian market on the Upper East Side with her husband, Joe Musco, and Louis Balducci. The Muscos’ daughter, Valentina Musco Puleo, is also a partner in the store. After 19 years, they have branched out and opened a store downtown, in rustic Sicilian style, just a shade smaller than the original. But thanks to a better layout, it is...
"Don't go hungry" to this UES "high-end purveyor" of Italian-accented "gourmet" goods and its newer Village offshoot, where devotees "dare you to leave with only what you came in for" once faced with the "outstanding" meats and seafood, "succulent" housemade pastas, "fresh and delicious" baked goods, "plentiful selection" of "first-rate" prepared foods and "exceptional" "spectrum of cheeses";...
Agata Musco, of the UES’ Agata & Valentina, brings quality Italian goods downtown. Market fronts as a more reasonably priced Eataly, meanders through coffee, salumeria, fish, butcher, and bakery. Daytime pizza and focaccia counter turns Angolo di Agata by evening, offering seasonal specialty dishes, ready to eat. Plenty of fish, stuffed eggplant, traditional pastas—nothing’s drowning in cheese,...
Food is ok- not amazing but ok. What bothers me is how incredibly rude the staff is. They all appear to hate their lives and it's apparently all your fault. For the prices they charge I would hope the staff would be at least mildly pleasant but every time I go here it's the same story. I will take my business to one of the many other options rather than continue to give them my money.
I have shopped at A & V more than I've wanted to for the past two years I've lived in NYC. 1) Because there are much closer to my house than other upscale gourmet supermarkets 2) because they have better mussels than other stores 3) because of their spanish chorizo. And about 80% of the times I've shopped …
They do Okay but cannot compete with Eli Zabar few blocks up who has the best upscale food market in the UES. Large selection of fruits and vegetables, good deli corner, cheap local caviar, and good homemade sorbet. No organic red meat available (no kidding) and the baguettes are stored at the floor …
Okay you finally got the 5th star out of me. Their service is great, the quality is top notch. Their seafood is fresh and yum (holla for the steamed lobster!!).They have the best selection of fresh pasta on the UES - white, whole wheat and gluten free. Their desserts are delish, the coffees are fresh and robust. The …
This is my most fav store in my neighborhood. Although being someone who generally dislikes doing grocery shopping, my daughter and I always enjoy coming to Agata & Valentina. Customer service is great, staff is always helpful and courteous. This Italian grocery store carries real good quality meats (this …
AGATA & VALENTINA is a family-owned and operated specialty food business and New York institution established on the Upper East Side in 1993. A second location opened in Greenwich Village in 2012. Our business was born of a passion for fine foods from Sicily, Italy, and around the globe, which drives our desire to share the absolute highest quality products and authentic hand-made prepared...
This gourmet market specializes in southern Italian goods and is named for the mother-daughter team who established it. The wonderfully cozy place promises a treasure trove of delicious foodstuffs and prepared items. Cheeses, meats, seafood, sushi, and produce are spectacular, and appetizers like pâtés, olives, foie gras, caviar, and more are easily had. Homemade pastas, spit-roasted chickens,...
