This was a very nice hotel in downtown Portland. If you love a great city you'll love this place. Fit and finish feels nicer than a normal city though. Bathroom gorgeous, soaps were great, giant TV at foot of super comfy bed was a big plus. Location was convenient to downtown dining (the purpose of our trip) and convenient to fitness club. Looks grand but is far from it? we stayed at the Stewart for a quick 4night stay paid xtra for a premier room. we asked for a first floor room as my wife will not travel in lifts, did not get one floor up but three flights of stairs down. Reception staff was ok, only just? dining was a joke you were just like cattle in a stampede, food was cold, bland uninviting, we had pork three nights...

City Commissioner gets Heat Back On

I am writing this because I was listening to my radio (KXL750am) and there was a local news item about the Stewart Hotel. The news reader said it took the tenants of that hotel to complain to City Commissioner Randy Leonard in order for a temporary heating hook-up to be installed. I can also rate this 1 star (if there was lower rating I would use it) because I walk by that hotel every so often and anyone can see that it is a 'slum' hotel.

My mother is currently residing in this establishment. All residents must share only 1 bathroom available to them, this includes toilets and shared shower stall. There are not toilets or showers in resident's rooms anywhere in this building. You will have to wait for hours and sometimes days to use the shower. They regularly have to spray and treat for lice and other insect infestations. They also lost their heat for over 10 days now in the dead of winter in freezing and snowy tempertures with no intention to fix the problem until this story was posted on the news, channels 2, 6 &8.
