Simple, but comfortable, good service and a great value

There are nicer hotels in SF but you are going to pay 2 to 3 times as much to stay there (especially in peak season). This is a no frills hotel but it is comfortable, quiet, safe, clean and the restaurant attached is excellent. Hayes Valley is an up and coming neighborhood in San Francisco and we enjoyed exploring it....

Never heard any of the other guests. We stayed in the Haight Ashbury room. Named that, I would have expected some color, but there wasn't any. The bathroom was very small. I spent two nights in the Haight room on the top floor. The room has a small rooftop patio, with a toilet and shower in the room. (Not all rooms have these!) Gotta love the Sauce

We loved the Sauce, the room was very atmospheric with lovely furnishings and great toiletries.
The location was good, just a short walk to the Mission or there were plenty of great bars and restaurants in the immediate area.
The staff were very friendly and helpful, they made some great recommendations for the area and made us feel like locals...
