Help us make it rightI was expecting very good food from this restaurant after reading the reviews, but it is not that good. I tried the mofongo with shrimps on the side, and it was good but not awesome. I like much better the one at Ramirez Restaurant. It might be traditional to serve the mashed plantain in one side and the shrimp soup...
Love the fried porkchop and the Puerto Plata sandwich is also awesome. The red beans and the black beans are always fresh and well cooked. The food here is just really, really good and the portions are huge.
Finally found Latin food in Jacksonville that tastes genuinely authentic, and a step above the rest. Went with a group of people, so we all tried something different from the menu. The food here is really, really good. It is on the salty side, but I love salt and my blood pressure is OK :)
I just get beans and rice, salad and plantains, all for about $8 and I am stuffed. My husband is a meat eater and he LOVES the Pernil. Everyone else who tries the Pernil loves it...
I have gone here several times upon recommendation by my colleagues. Usually I have the mofongo (fried plantain ball) with the broth and fried pork on the side. it is very good. This dish is always a more expensive one because of the labor and time involved to make it. However, I have gone back several times to purchase it....
