Erected in 1928 during the Oil Rush era, the eight-story Padre is a sophisticated contemporary haven. Inside and out, a $18-million renovation completed in 2010 pays homage to the hotel's colorful history: the exterior reflects much of the original Spanish Colonial Revival character; the marble-tiled lobby's neoclassical columns sparkle again; and the rooms and suites bear names such as the Oil...

We stayed one night here while in town to see Jackson Browne at the Fox Theater. We were extremely happy with every aspect of our stay: service, cleanliness, atmosphere, price & quality.

a noisy hotel, a non-stop wedding party to 1 am!

I booked three rooms for stay one night for a business trip, met a wedding party at that day. An unbelievable party! Such noisy ! Non-stop till to 1 am. And I have to call front desk to complain it. They have no sense about what's the quality.

Best in Bakersfield.

The Padre Hotel is a sincere attempt at a cosmopolitan luxury hotel in a city which is neither cosmopolitan nor luxurious. For travelers who are used to the best of NY or SF, it might seem a bit lacking but the attempts at style are pleasant and the efforts of the staff are lovely.
