La Frite French & Belgium Bistro. Culinary passion is fused into this contemporary bistro set in the heart of King William. Enjoy traditional bistro dishes and French inspired daily specials. The adjacent wine bar offers regional French wines as well as bottled and draft Belgian beers.
La Frite’s décor was assembled à la marché aux puces in its first incarnation, and the current owners have continued the casual vibe. The cuisine is a patchwork, too, though more on the order of a vintage quilt. Moules, for many the mainstay of the menu, are available seven ways (frites are a must) and in both petit and grand serving sizes at dinner; we're especially fond of the classic...
Damien Watel has delighted devotées of French food at his bustling bistro and has equally engaged Italophiles at the casual Ciao Lavanderia. Now he’s put together a patchwork of pieces and parts in a Southtown storefront “et voila!†La Frite, a Belgian bistro where mussels reign and French, er, Belgian fries are the occasion of secular sin. Attracting crowds from the affluent zip codes,...

In historic King Williams.
Great Food, Spotty Service. Since I hadn't been to La Frite since the very beginning of the new ownership, I decided to head back and see how the kitchen was keeping up. It's nice to see the owners having expanded into the space next door, decluttering the already-small space and giving it a feeling of more space overall.
Wonderful food! It's not on the menu, but ask for the foie gras... It's really good. We also had the crepes au crab and the moules, both excellent. Added some picks. First time here, and we would highly recommend it!!
Like Belgian beer? Or just great food? You really should try La Frite. Go for brunch or dinner, but you should call ahead for dinner to see if you need reservations.
Mussels in Southtown. I had lunch here on Thursday, July 18, 2013 with my two sisters--so, we were las tres Abuelitas. We started our meal with the soup of the day, which was a light and airy, cool and creamy sweet pea mint. It was delicious. We shared an entree, mussels marinieres: a huge and hearty bowl of exquisite mussels with a creamy garlicky sauce with just a hint of white wine. The...

Restaurants near Alamodome, Romantic Dining: Typically, San Antonio is as far away from European as you can get. That is until you walk into this quaint little bistro in the heart of the Southtown arts district. With its warm, inviting decor, wide array of wine selections and French-inspired cuisine, you feel like you might just walk outside and see the Eiffel Tower. Zagat rates this bistro...
La Frite serves Belgian food in San Antonio. Menu items include mussels, frites and other Belgian comfort food. This cafe-like restaurant also serves beer and wine, and is closed between 1:30 and 5:30 p.m.
Owned by Damien Watel, the chef behind San Antonio favorites Ciao Lavanderia and Bistro Vatel, La Frite is a similarly attractive and slightly more casual spot. Belgian cuisine is on offer, especially – as the name implies – fries, served piping hot and cut thin. Moules frites, a mussels dish, is one of the restaurant's most popular, but steak tartare also wins raves. Desserts don't disappoint;...
