Venerable '60s concert hall is reborn in Northern Liberties.

In Short
The original Electric Factory opened in February of 1968 at 22nd & Arch Streets, and is looked back upon as one of the East Coast's most influential rock music clubs ever. A new...

I really love the Electric Factory as a venue. There is an upstairs bar area and a downstairs bar area on the right. I recommend going to the bar downstairs because it's a lot less crowded then...

This place can only be ruined by people who act as if they've never been to a show. (Looking at you, kids, who think you can shove your way forward to a pit 30 minutes into a set.) The sound is...

I'm torn. I've had good times here in the past (lookin' at you, 2012 Gaslight Anthem show!), but I think I've moved past the ability to tolerate overzealous security and disrespectful crowds....

I came here for the first time to see Matt & Kim and I honestly had a blast. When my friend and I arrived, we were randomly given access to a part of the floor that got us pretty close to the...

Sound: Horrible sound at this venue. Comfort: Hardly any seats, which really isn't much of a problem just wanted to point that out. Otherwise the view to the stage is very good. Food/Drink: The...

The club has two levels, both with bars and the upstairs seating area is strictly 21 and over. The downstairs bar area requires ID and the first floor is standing room only for most shows. The venue isn't pretty, that's for sure, but it does draw major acts like Tegan & Sara, The Mars Volta and Of Montreal. Shows are all ages, unless otherwise specified, so check the Web site ahead of time.

The Extras

Hosting everyone from Jimi Hendrix to the Dead, the club enjoyed two years of fame and controversy (then-Philly Mayor Frank Rizzo vowed to turn it into a parking lot) before closing as bigger venues starting drawing artists away.

Know Before You Go

The Factory is a bit cavernous, which means acoustics can be boomy and imprecise, but the atmosphere is tres hip, allowing folks to sit still or mingle, depending on their mood.
