Find one of the best views of downtown Raleigh in this top-floor Clarion Hotel bar.

In Short
Twenty stories above Raleigh, the Top of the Tower bar crowns one of downtown's landmark buildings: the circular hotel that was once the Holiday Inn. Badly in need of renovation,...

This kitschy hotel from the '70s is known for for panoramic views and a rooftop restaurant.

The Scene

Location good, weird hotel

This hotel has a really strange decor. If you stay in once of the lower floors the rooms glow green from neon that runs up the building at night.
It was average, service rooms, food.
Bathrooms are very small.

My kids and I stayed one night on a road trip from miami to DC. It's conveniently located, a lot of taverns and pubs in the area which did me no good. But there's is a great burger joint called Bad Daddy Burger or something. Room was clean, staff was nice. Free wifi. I like to stay in the busiest...

Generally this is a nice place. Great location. Friendly staff. But my last stay, the room did not have a thermostat. Most of the other rooms in this hotel do. I tried to cool my room, as it was an unseasonably warm day for Feb, and it would NOT cool. I called front desk and let them know, they promptly...

Tips about this business (4)

The Extras: The bar actually only occupies half of the top floor, but the southern exposure is quite interesting. It's fun to go with a friend who knows Raleigh so you can try and pick out the various downtown buildings. Look directly down and you'll see Second Empire--look straight out and you can see well down Hillsborough Street.

Where to Sit: Tables by the window usually accommodate only two people, but you may be able to charm the maitre d' into an arrangement for four.
