Help us make it rightThey did some brake work for me. Gave me the usual recommendations which i declined, and i scheduled to pick car up next day. They call the next day and say they cant finish the job unless i buy new calipers for another 500. Argue with them for a while and they offer to do it for 300. I say ill call u back. Call them back and say that i will take the car somewhere else, as is. Guy puts me on hold and comes back to tell me they got it done without the additional work.
They also promised me a 50$ rebate that wasnt even applicable. They also snuck in an inspection charge that they had already...
I stopped by Firestone for a promotional oil change, and was not surprised when it came with a list of recommended, if not 'urgent" repairs. The left front ball joint needed to be replaced "right away" and the front sway bar link was also badly in need of repair. I have a family mechanic (who being both honest and low priced is a precious commodity) back in Albany, so since I was headed in that direction, I called him to make an appointment to have these recommended repairs done. I was surprised when I went back to pick the car up from him to learn that there was nothing wrong with either...
Let me preface this by saying that I am young, female, and don't know a ton about cars... and Firestone absolutely tried to take advantage.
I went in for a cheapie oil change and "free" tire rotation (I had a coupon for both).
I never even got the tire rotation, as they told me I wasn't "due" for one yet (nevermind that I've had the car for a year, put quite a few miles on it, and never had them rotated). Instead I was told that if I returned to Firestone for my NEXT oil change, I'd be "due" for rotation then.
While I was there, I asked the mechanic to look at my belts, as I thought one...
Offers complete automotive work including brake replacement, tire rotation, transmission service and more. Sells Bridgestone, Firestone, Dayton and Lemans brands.
An old Firestone jingle once proclaimed "Where the rubber meets the road!" Firestone was a tire store and only sold and serviced tires. I was too young to own a car at the time, but tires were Firestone's trademark. Nowadays Firestone is practically a full service automotive shop, and seems to be a full service rip-off. You know the type, you read an ad for the repair you want at an affordable price that tends to get overblown for complications that their ace mechanics discover. Of course the ad says in fine print that prices may vary. Yes a basic brake service that probably would have cost...
Check the local paper for coupons.
